If you are worried about Tree Roots…

You probably don’t have root fibers in your sewer line, but you definitely need to check to see if you do. The only way root fibers from a tree penetrate your sewer line is if there is a leak from your sewer line that the roots can penetrate. Since we have good quality ABS pipe for our sewer lines, which is flexible and lasts a long time, the most likely place for a leak is at one of the joints where the pipe is joined to a fitting.

I recommend that all homeowners call a drain service like:

Affordable Drain - http://affordabledrain.com/

For $185 they will video scope your sewer pipes. If you don’t have any root fibers or other damage to your sewer line then you are done!

If there are some root fibers in the line, then for another $250 they will jet the line clear and apply RootX. RootX will inhibit regrowth of the roots from 1 to 3 years and can be repeated as often as you need.

This treatment will last for varying lengths of time. It has been FALSELY reported by the arborist that the HOA hired who provided a “biased report” to cut down the trees, that using an herbicide will kill the trees. This is absolutely NOT TRUE!

THIS IS THE SUSTAINABLE WAY TO KEEP MATURE TREES.

If you have questions about this treatment then please call Affordable Drain or come see me. Thanks.

You can also contact your insurance agent and add a rider for sewer and drain backups which will cover your home in the event that you have a bad backup. However preventing this from ever happening by doing the proper maintenance is best. Avoid flushing or putting any objects in the drains. This includes food. It's better to trash food than grind it in the garbage disposal.

Water Conservation Tips

Check your toilets for leaks. Drop a teaspoon of food coloring in the tank. If color appears in the bowl after 15 minutes, replace the “flapper” valve.

Keep your showers down to 5 minutes or less using a low-flow showerhead (saves 75 gallons a week per person).

Trash Bins: Please Help!

The trash bin areas are NOT for dumping large items. We have seen closet doors, sofas, chairs, dishwashers, televisions, Christmas trees, etc. Waste Management Company will not pick those things up and if we have to hire a company to haul it away, it eats into our budget that we need for important maintenance. Please put everything in the bins including your Amazon cartons and ALL other trash.
